Shocking moment impatient tourist hits lion while on safari
This is the shocking moment an impatient safari tourist hit a lion while driving on the road.
Safraaz Suliman was driving through the Kruger National Park, South Africa, on August 2 when a pride of lions walked across the tarmac.
Unbelievable footage captured the moment a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV weaved through traffic trying to get a head start.
The driver then bumped into the back of one of the lionesses causing it to run off the tarmac startled.
Safraaz said: “We, along with other vehicles, were in a state of utter shock, as evidenced by the audible screams from occupants of the other vehicle.
“According to road regulations animals have the right of way which necessitates patience during wildlife sightings.
“Despite this, a particular individual appeared to be in a hurry, presumably hoping that the lions would move aside as he advanced.
“Unfortunately, the lioness was unaware of the approaching vehicle and subsequently faced the consequences of the impatient driver attempting to pass.
“We are guests in the animals' natural habitats and should therefore approach them with respect.
“It is crucial to recognise their space and behaviour, ensuring that we do not disrupt their environment or wellbeing.
“I frequently visit Kruger National Park, where I cherish the peace and tranquility it offers. There truly is no place like Africa.”
