Storyline:
The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip had risen to 40,738, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Sunday.

During the past 24 hours, the Israeli military killed 47 people and wounded 94 others, bringing the total death toll to 40,738 and the injuries to 94,154 since the latest Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out on Oct. 7, 2023, it said.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Sunday that the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, a municipal park in western Gaza and a community in eastern Gaza City were attacked by the Israeli army, resulting in multiple casualties.

The Palestinian health department also reported that Israeli drones targeted civilian vehicles in the Deir al-Balah area, killing four people and injuring many others.

The Israeli army has not commented on these incidents so far.

On the same day, Israeli air strikes hit a school in Gaza City, causing many casualties. The Israeli army said later that Hamas used the school as a military command center to launch attacks against the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), emphasizing that a series of precautions were taken prior to the strikes to reduce the risk of harming civilians.

The Israeli army continued its military operations in the West Bank on Sunday. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, two more Palestinians lost their lives in the attacks. Since the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation in the West Bank on Aug. 28, a total of 24 Palestinians have died as a result of these actions.

Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage.
