Pupils take horrifying ferry ride through choppy seas during storm Yagi
This is the moment pupils took a horrifying boat ride through choppy seas on their way home during Tropical Storm Yagi in the Philippines.
The youngsters were already at school when classes were suspended due to bad weather in Bulacan province on September 2.
As they lived on an island, they could only ride the ferry to reach home, but they encountered tidal waves as the storm pounded the region.
Footage shows panicked kids screaming and crying as the ferry was rocked and hit by waves.
A boat man can be heard saying while trying to calm the children: ‘Please don't move, don't move.'
The video was recorded by one of the students who sent it to his worried mum to update her.
Mother Karen Santos said: ‘I was terrified when I saw the video. We were so relieved when they reached the port safely.'
The boat arrived at the port safely, and no one was hurt.
Tropical Storm Yagi brought heavy rains that triggered landslides and flash floods, killing at least 13 in the Philippines so far.
It made landfall in the northern part of the country in Aurora province and is expected to reach a peak category of typhoon later this week before moving towards southern China.
