Man's lavish ceremony to marry a PIG causes stir in China
A man in Sui County, Henan Province, caused a stir online in China after organising a lavish ceremony so he could marry a pig.
Footage from September 8 shows the wedding proceedings that drew widespread attention and outrage from the local online community.
According to eyewitnesses, the wedding was set up like a traditional human ceremony, complete with a wedding procession, inflatable arches, and a banner reading “The Wedding of Mr. Sanlang and Ms. Pig.”
The man wore a large red flower on his chest, while the pig sported a "big gold chain" and a flower pinned to its head. Throughout the ceremony, the man and the pig performed various wedding rituals together, with many villagers gathering to watch and record the event.
The absurdity of the event quickly went viral online, sparking widespread discussion among netizens. Many expressed disgust, considering the behaviour a serious violation of public morals and an affront to the institution of marriage. Some also questioned whether the incident was a shameless publicity stunt designed to attract attention.
In response, local authorities swiftly launched an investigation. After verification, the individuals involved were punished for their behaviour. The authorities stated that they would crackdown on similar events.
