Tourist injured after falling from malfunctioning cable car in eastern China
On the evening of October 1, at Yandang Mountain Scenic Area in Yueqing, Zhejiang, a cable car on the Fangdong Ropeway malfunctioned due to strong winds, causing the door to suddenly open. A 34-year-old female tourist fell from the cable car and was injured.
Firefighters involved in the rescue operation reported that they were notified to search for the fallen tourist immediately after the accident. The malfunctioning cable car had just left the boarding station when the incident occurred, with an estimated height of over ten meters above the ground.
The Yandang Mountain Scenic Area Management Committee in Wenzhou stated that the injured tourist was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment and is currently not in life-threatening condition. Following the accident, the ropeway has been temporarily closed for a thorough inspection, with reopening details to be announced later.
