A bus crash injured at least 26 nursing students in India.

The private minibus was heading to a nearby village when it skidded off the road and fell into a ditch in Udhampur, Punjab, on October 29.

Local reports stated that 30 passengers, most of them students, were rushed to Government Medical College Hospital for immediate treatment.

Authorities said three individuals are in serious condition and are being transported to Jammu for specialised care.

An initial investigation report indicated that a Matador passenger vehicle with registration number JK02S-4087 lost control due to speeding and rolled onto the road, prompting the minibus to swerve and avoid a collision, which resulted in the bus also falling into the ditch.

Udhampur Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai said: 'Some 30 to 35 persons were travelling in the minibus, which, according to preliminary information, fell into a gorge after experiencing brake failure.'

In a separate incident on the same day, two passengers were killed after being struck by a truck in Drabshalla. The truck driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene; police have launched a manhunt to locate the driver.
