Heroic woman saves neighbour's child from rampaging boar in China
On November 2, 2024, in Fengyang County, Anhui Province, a wild boar suddenly charged into a residential area, posing a serious threat to local residents' safety. In this moment of crisis, a woman bravely stepped forward to protect a neighbour’s child and was injured in the process.
Surveillance footage showed several children playing happily by the roadside in the neighbourhood. Suddenly, a wild boar burst onto the scene, heading straight for the children. Without hesitation, the woman rushed forward and grabbed a child who had not yet managed to run indoors. However, as she reached the doorway, the wild boar attacked, knocking both her and the child to the ground.
According to the woman involved, she was initially shocked, but the children were unharmed, while she sustained minor injuries and reported the incident to the police.
On November 3, local authorities stated that the woman’s injuries were not serious and she had already received medical treatment. The police promptly responded to the report, neutralised the wild boar, and disposed of it safely without causing further harm.
The official noted that the improved ecological environment generally keeps wild boars in deep mountain areas. A local tradition involves visiting ancestors' graves on the first day of the tenth lunar month, and the sound of fireworks from these ceremonies may have startled the boar and driven it into the village.
