A sweet-toothed monkey amused tourists when it threw a banana and stole a bottle of fizzy drinks.

The primate climbed the wing mirror of a car that stopped on a roadside to ask for food but tossed a fruit to the ground in favour of a soda in Chonburi province, Thailand on November 28.

Footage shows the animal with a picky palate ignoring a banana, letting it drop onto the road. It took one bite of the second fruit it was handed but threw it away.

While the motorists thought it was only full, the monkey suddenly snatched a bottle of soda and took off with its loot.

Job Udomrat said: 'Maybe it was tired of eating bananas and wanted something else.'

Monkeys in Thailand have become accustomed to tourists feeding them and they will often become aggressive. They have also been known to steal food and belongings from tourists.
