These rainbow clouds appeared in the sky of Tidore city, North Maluku province, Indonesia on Wednesday 4 December 2024.
It is known that rainbow clouds or iridescent clouds are colored clouds produced by optical phenomena.
Rainbow clouds have a colorful visual appearance with color intensity that resembles a rainbow.[1][2] This optical phenomenon is usually observed in lenticular, altostratus, altocumulus, or cirrus clouds near the Sun when sunlight is diffracted through small water droplets or ice crystals of fairly uniform size in the cloud.
