Heavy lake-effect snow blanketed northwestern New York on Thursday morning, December 12, creating dangerous travel conditions and causing traffic standstills. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued lake-effect snow warnings for Erie County, forecasting up to 3 feet of snowfall in some areas.

This video, filmed by Fur Baby Woodworks, captures near-zero visibility on Interstate 90 near Hamburg, where a travel ban had been imposed by Erie County officials.

The NWS warned of “heavy snow falling in narrow bands,” leading to rapidly deteriorating road conditions. Drivers were urged to exercise caution as the lake-effect snow warning remains in effect for Hamburg until Friday.
