A case of sheer negligence has surfaced from Pavdasan village in Tharad tehsil of Banaskantha, where a camel fell into a deep ditch near a major drain due to incomplete road construction work. The pit was yet to be filled with soil, which was the responsibility of the National and State Highway Authorities. However, no safety measures or timely action were taken.

As the camel passed by the area, the loose soil gave way and the animal slipped into the deep pit. The absence of proper barricading, safety arrangements, or on-site supervision created conditions ripe for such an incident.

Disturbing visuals show the helpless animal crying in pain as rescue teams, with the help of a JCB machine, struggled to pull it out of the ditch. The camel was eventually rescued after significant effort and taken to a veterinary doctor for treatment of its injuries.

Local residents are furious at the contractor's carelessness and are demanding strict action against those responsible. They say this negligence could have led to a major accident and must not be repeated.
