Yak attacks woman distracted by phone as she walks past building in China
This is the shocking moment a yak attacked a woman who was distracted by her phone as she walked towards the animal.
The huge bovine was tied to a concrete pillar when it spotted the pedestrian approaching in Henan, China, on December 22.
She appeared to be watching a video on her phone and was unaware she was straying too close to the beast, leaving it enraged that a human had entered its space.
Terrifying CCTV footage captured from a nearby shop shows the ox charging at the local.
It jabbed its sharp horns into the woman, causing her to flip upside down and slam into the ground.
She can be seen unable to stand due to the pain, prompting one of the onlookers to immediately drag her away from the enraged animal.
The victim reportedly sustained injuries to her eyes and legs. She was taken to hospital for treatment.
Staff in the building said the animal belonged to a farmer who had brought his yak to town while he visited a bank.
Liu Haojie said: 'The woman was injured but she was worried about the cost of going the hospital. She wanted the owner of the animal to pay.'
Yaks are known for being friendly and playful, intelligent, and gentle-natured. However, like other animals, they attack when they feel threatened.
