Killer to be executed over murder of German businessman in Thailand (video of arrest)
Footage shows the arrest of a killer who has been sentenced to death over the murder of a German businessman found dismembered in a freezer in Thailand.
Shahrukh Karim Uddin, 28, seen first in the video, was found guilty on December 20 of premeditated murder and concealing the body of Peter Ralter Mack, 62, in July last year.
German female Petra Christl Grundgreif, 54, seen second in the video, and German man Olaf Thorsten Brinkmann, 52, seen third in the video, confessed to the crime during the trial, which saw their sentences reduced from capital punishment to life in prison as a result.
The evil trio allegedly had planned to dispose of his remains at sea before the gruesome crime was uncovered.
The deceased Hans had been living with his glamorous Thai wife Piraya Boonmak, 24, for around five years in Pattaya. He had two sons from his previous wife.
Under Thailand's strict legal system, capital punishment remains legal - despite repeal attempts. The death penalty can be imposed for a long list of crimes, including murder, treason, terrorism, extreme cases of rape and robbery, and drug trafficking.
Although the country has studied other methods of execution, such as the lethal injection, executions are today carried out by shootings using a handgun.
Condemned prisoners are sedated and put face down on a mattress and shot three times through the heart. If the prisoner has opted to donate their internal organs, then they are instead executed by a single bullet to the back of the head.
As of August, there were nearly 400 inmates on death row in the country, with the last execution being carried out in June 2018.
The incident saw a 26-year-old man killed by lethal injection on charges of robbery and the murder of a boy aged 17.
