Creepy Rapunzel model leaves park visitors feeling uneasy
A creepy Rapunzel model left park visitors feeling uneasy.
Shaheen Samuel was strolling around when she spotted the eerie Disney character statue inside a tower at Passi City Plaza in Iloilo, the Philippines, on December 18.
Footage shows the sculpture slightly bending down with its eyes seemingly staring at passersby. Its frizzy long hair added to the eerie figure, leaving parkgoers petrified.
Shaheen said: 'I was walking alone, and then this thing caught my attention because it looks so creepy. I looked at it for a while, and it sent shivers down my spine.'
Other locals said that the figure appeared eerie, triggering the 'uncanny valley' effect—a psychological phenomenon describing the unease or discomfort people feel when a non-living object closely resembles a human but lacks complete realism.
Rapunzel is loosely based on the protagonist of the classic German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. She is the tenth official Disney Princess and the first to originate from a fully computer-animated film.
