Surfers battled through a storm in the Philippines.

Mikhaela Sumagpang and her surfer friends rode the wobbly waves amid heavy rainfall in San Juan, La Union, on July 23.

Footage shows the group balancing themselves on surfboards as they glide through the stormy sea.

Mikhaela said: 'With the guidance of professional surfers, I braved the powerful waves and embraced the thrill of the stormy sea. It was both exhilarating and humbling to feel the raw energy of nature while learning how to ride the waves.

'As I paddled out into the stormy waters, I kept reminding myself: "Life is like surfing—you learn to ride the waves, even through the storm." This experience taught me resilience, balance, and the importance of enjoying the journey, no matter how turbulent it gets.'

Typhoon Gaemi landed in some neighbouring Southeast Asian countries, leaving at least 107 people killed, 924 injured, and 42 missing. The disaster caused an estimated 1.66 billion USD in damages.
