This is the shocking moment two tourists fought over seats in an airport departure hall.

Notekamol Panapisal, 22, was sitting on a beam chair waiting for her evening flight when a Hungarian woman allegedly started shouting at her at the Phuket International Airport in Thailand on January 3.

The Hungarian reportedly claimed she had reserved the space for her husband and demanded Notekamol stand up and move. Notekamol then responded by saying that it was a public area - only for the tourist to allegedly whack her with a heavy backpack.

Footage shows the blonde woman trying to snatch Notekamol's phone as she recorded the alleged attack.
The Hungarian woman's husband later arrived to break up the fight. The couple were then said to have queued for boarding.

A furious Notekamol filed a report with airport police.

She said: 'The most shocking thing was that there was not a single security guard present at all during the incident. We had to go and inform them ourselves, which made us feel that an international airport should have tighter security measures.

'When the police arrived, they concluded that our actions were 'jointly fighting', even though the airport CCTV footage clearly showed that we had stopped despite the blonde woman continuing to attack us.'

Duty officer Police Captain Sunan Petchnoo of the Mueang Phuket Police Station said officers had opened an investigation into the case.

He added: 'The Thai woman presented a medical certificate confirming she was injured. She filed a report for assault and defamation on January 4.'

Notekamol lamented that the Hungarian tourists were able to fly out of Thailand without facing repercussions.
