Technicians defrosted a frozen water pipe using flames in northern India.

Employees from the Lahaul Jal Shakti Department repaired the water supply by heating the pipe after it froze due to a seven-degree Celsius weather temperature in Himachal Pradesh, India, on December 26.

Footage shows the men lighting a cloth on fire and sweeping it above the black pipe.

The department said that the drinking water line connecting the village was blocked because of heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures.

This pipeline, which connects the village, comes from a drinking water source about three kilometres away.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave to severe cold wave warning for Himachal Pradesh. According to the IMD, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are very likely in some parts of Himachal Pradesh from December 23 to 26.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautions during this season as road incidents are common.
