This is the shocking moment a huge tiger effortlessly catches a fleeing dog and kills it almost instantly with a bite from its powerful jaws.

The incident reportedly took place near Chirka, a locality in Khabarovsk Krai, Russia, 35 kilometres away from the regional administrative centre on December 17.

Footage shows four video clips from different angles. In the first one, the huge feline is seen running down the side of a heavily fenced enclosure.

It then sprints in front of the gate in pursuit of an animal, which appears to be a canine.

The wild cat rapidly closes the distance, making huge leaps through the snow, and catches the dog halfway down a second section of the fence.

The next video, zoomed in more closely, clearly reveals the tiger catching the dog.

It then grabs the helpless pet in its jaws and appears to kill it almost instantly, as there is no visible struggle.

A third video shows the same sequence but from a slightly wider angle, while the fourth captures the tiger before the hunt, prowling outside the fence. It suddenly spots the dog and begins the chase.

Tigers are apex predators and the largest members of the cat family, known for their strength and hunting skills.

As carnivores, they primarily hunt large prey like deer and wild boar but may also target smaller animals like monkeys, hares, and livestock.

Their stealth, strength, and swimming abilities enable them to ambush and catch prey, including fish.
