Madurai, Tamil Nadu, January 13, 2025 – The much-awaited Jallikattu competition, an integral part of the Pongal (Harvest )festival celebrations, commenced with thrilling moments and impressive victories. The event, which is a symbol of Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, has brought together participants from across the region, showcasing the traditional bull-taming sport.
The highlight of the competition was Karthik, a skilled bull-tamer, who triumphed by successfully taming an astounding 19 bulls, securing the first prize. Karthik’s remarkable achievement earned him a car worth ₹8 lakhs. In addition to the car, Karthik was also gifted a cow as part of his prize.
Hundreds of Bulls and Enthusiastic Participants Gathered for the Festival
The competition attracted over 1,100 bulls from across South India, making it a grand spectacle for spectators. The participants, known for their bravery and strength, took part in this traditional sport, which is deeply rooted in the region's culture and history.
