STORYLINE:
In Shuitou Town of Nan'an, east China's Fujian Province, Brazilian entrepreneur Marcos Caldeira has found success in the booming Chinese stone industry.
Caldeira first came to Xiamen in 2013 to learn Chinese, but his keen business sense led him to seize an opportunity in the stone trade.

"Shuitou is like the 'capital of the stone' all over the world, so it is the main market all over the world. So that was one of the main reasons for me to choose Shuitou.
We do both import and export. Actually, first I started doing export mainly to the U.S. market and Brazilian market. And then in 2020, we decided to start to import materials from Brazil.
I've been doing this business in China for 10 years, so I see how much the factories in China, especially in Shuitou, they grow. I might say nowadays the quality of materials processed in China is even better than materials processed in Italy or processed in Brazil."
Caldeira praised China's open and supportive environment, calling it an ideal place for entrepreneurs to succeed.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MARCOS CALDEIRA, Brazilian entrepreneur
"I always feel very welcomed as a person and as a businessman. I always feel like (it's) a pleasure to do business in China. Things are much more smooth. We always see people trying to help us, friends and government.
We had a wonderful 2024. We even expanded our company this year, so we started this year with a 1,500-square-meter company. Right now, I have a 3,500-square-meter warehouse.
Right now, we are working with around 20 kinds of Brazilian materials. So our idea is to expand a little bit more, go around 30 to 35 different types of materials. And of course, try to improve more our network, try to improve more the Internet part to reach more customers around China."
