A former Israeli hostage attended a ceremony days after her release from Hamas captivity.

Dramatic footage shows soldier Agam Berger attending an emotional Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ceremony on Monday, February 3, to honour her younger sister, Bar, who completed a military training course.

Agam pinned the purple aiguillette on Bar's shoulder, symbolising her new role as a mashakit tash, a noncommissioned officer responsible for soldiers' service conditions.

Fighting back tears, Agam told her sister: 'I'm proud of you!'

The family, including parents Meirav and Shlomi and Agam's twin sister, Lee Yam, were also present at the event.

Agam was kidnapped from the Nahal Oz IDF post on October 7, 2023, one day after starting her role as a surveillance soldier. During her 482 days in captivity, her twin sister completed an officer's course, Bar enlisted in the IDF, and their younger brother, Ilai, celebrated his bar mitzvah—milestones Agam missed but now witnesses in freedom.

She was freed in the third wave of hostage releases under the Gaza ceasefire deal.
