A kitten was rescued from a shaft and nursed back to health by its saviour.

The stray feline wandered into a shop and tried to escape through the electrical cavity at the back of the property in Yangon, Myanmar, on February 3.

He could not breathe as the space was too narrow without oxygen before a Good Samaritan volunteered to climb down and retrieve the moggy.

Footage shows the male feline at the bottom of the claustrophobic space made with metal, wood, and concrete, with electrical conduit sprawling the walls.

Upon finding out where the cat was, one of the shop owners descended through the hole and picked up the scared animal.

The shopkeeper, Zaw, said his hand was scraped while trying to reach the tight hole, but the moggy was saved.

He adopted the cat and named him Sunny.

Zaw said: 'While working, the kitten came running inside the shop and fell through the hole. It was trapped at the bottom, unable to breathe. So we did everything we could to save it.

'We even gave the kitten oxygen from an old respirator. He is much healthier now.'
