A huge python was caught hiding in a car engine in Thailand.

The massive 10ft snake coiled inside the engine compartment as flash floods swamped Nakhon Si Thammarat province on February 24.

Footage shows wildlife rescuers dragging the serpent out of the vehicle using poles. It took 10 minutes to capture the beast and seal it inside a sack.

The car owner said: 'The python probably came from the nearby rubber plantation. It's cold in the area because of the rain, so it must have come into my home seeking shelter.'

Heavy rain has been battering southern Thailand, triggering flash floods for several days.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
