This is the heartwarming moment a mother dog guided her puppy over a zebra crossing to safety.

The stray pooch patiently waited for the tiny puppy to follow her before leading the way across the street in Tagbilaran City, the Philippines on February 4.

Footage shows the mum climbing down the steps at the front of the capitol building with her baby.

She waited on the side of the road for the small pooch to catch up before they dashed across.

Onlooker Christian Tagupa said: 'It was early in the morning. I was waiting for the capitol to open where I would be applying for work.

'I saw the cleaner making the dogs leave. After that, I saw them climbing down the stairs.

'She was guiding her puppy. It was so cute. She was a great mother to her babies.'
