A beauty queen had her teeth painted with correction fluid to create the perfect smile at a pageant.

Footage shows Samantha Bernabe Pataueg opening her mouth wide so her make-up artist could colour her pearly whites in Quirino province, the Philippines.

While Samantha has healthy dental hygiene, she was worried her teeth would appear yellowish under the bright light.

To avoid putting off the judges with yellow teeth, at the last minute, Samantha asked her assistant to perform a smile hack by brushing each of her teeth with the office supply.

She said: 'They work like DIY veneers. It tasted bad but was easily cleaned off with a brush after the pageant.'

The local beauty contest was held on April 30 and Samantha did not win.
