US, Phoenix: Downtown Phoenix Pedestrian Struck by Freight Train

Phoenix, United States - May 07, 2025 05/06/2025 11:18 pm GMT-0700 DOWNTOWN PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a freight train near 1st and Jackson Streets. Officers arrived to find an unidentified pedestrian between two railcars, on the 1st Street Union Pacific crossing. Phoenix firefighters arrived a short time later and transported the pedestrian to a local trauma center. The extent of the pedestrian's injuries has yet to be confirmed. Phoenix police officers and Union Pacific Railroad officials are investigating the incident. The involved freight train was stationary due to the active investigation. The 1st Street and 2nd Street Union Pacific crossings, south of Jackson Street, were obstructed by the train. 1st Street was closed between Jackson Street and Buchanan Street while the investigation unfolded.
