A rare kitten born with two heads amazed its owner, who now keeps its body as a bizarre lucky charm.

The mutant feline shocked pet owner Jeab, 61, when it emerged from its mother's womb with the deformity.

Jeab, a garland vendor in Ang Thong, central Thailand, said the baby died shortly after its birth on May 21.

She said: 'I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I've raised many cats, but I've never seen anything like this. I was so shocked that I had to show the kitten to my other friends.'

Footage shows Jeab showing off the runt's body, which she covered in turmeric to help preserve it. The kitten appeared to have two heads diverging from one neck.

The superstitious woman said she intended to keep the kitten corpse in a shrine in her home, believing it was a sign of good fortune.

The kitten with two heads is believed to have a birth defect called bicephaly. The condition happens when an embryo splits into identical twins but does not fully sepearet. In humans, this condition results in conjoined twins.
