CCTV shows Air India Ahmedabad–London flight take off before crashing
Script:
CCTV footage captures the moment Air India Flight AI171 takes off from the runway at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner can be seen accelerating down the runway and lifting off as scheduled.
But within seconds of takeoff, the aircraft appears to lose altitude. The footage shows the plane veering sharply before disappearing from frame.
Moments later, a fireball is visible in the distance—evidence of the aircraft crashing into a nearby residential area.
Flight AI171 had departed shortly after 1:15 p.m., en route to London Gatwick. Authorities say the aircraft encountered a critical failure shortly after becoming airborne.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene. The number of casualties is yet to be confirmed.
