Tail of crashed Air India plane seen among wreckage
The broken tail of the Air India plane that crashed into buildings was seen among the smouldering wreckage on Thursday afternoon.
The large piece of metal bore the distinctive red and orange livery of the Indian flag carrier at the crash site in Gujarat.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner departed at 1:17 pm local time and was seen taking to the skies at 1:38 pm at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
But within seconds, it had lost all power and crashed into a residential area.
The aircraft, which was bound for London Gatwick, exploded in a fireball. Just one person from the 244 onboard survived.
Officials are now investigating the cause of the tragedy, which killed dozens more on the ground.
