CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Chesterfield County Fire and EMS released dramatic first-person video footage Monday showing the intense challenges firefighters face when responding to electric vehicle fires.

The video captures the first moments on scene at an EV fire that broke out earlier that morning on Walton Bluff Parkway. Flames and heavy smoke engulfed the vehicle as firefighters arrived and began their response.

Fortunately, the driver was able to escape the car before it was fully engulfed and was not injured, officials said.

The department shared the video to give the public insight into the unique hazards of EV fires, which often require special tactics due to battery-related risks. Crews praised the quick, coordinated response that helped prevent further damage or injury.
