Pair of loved-up turtles enjoy an underwater kiss
This is the fascinating moment two sea turtles appeared to share an underwater kiss as part of their mating ritual.
Footage shows the pair gliding toward each other and gently touching their beaks in Bohol, the Philippines.
The marine creatures swam amid tiny fish that explored the nearby mass of coral reefs off the coast of Balicasag Island on June 6.
Diver Mark Joey Florentino said: ‘I was having a fun dive shoot with a client when the two sweet turtles did a French kiss in front of us. We were very lucky.'
Sea turtles exhibit behaviour that can be described as kissing, but it is actually part of their mating process.
They may nuzzle or come face to face, which can look affectionate to humans. However, these actions are instinctive and not romantic.
