Boulders crash into lake narrowly missing swimmers
This is the terrifying moment boulders crashed into a lake, narrowly missing swimmers.
Footage shows two unsuspecting holidaymakers enjoying the water at Lower Calf Creek Falls, located in the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument in Utah.
Without warning, several massive rocks plummeted from an overhanging cliff, landing in the water between the pair and the shoreline.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM)– Utah confirmed that no injuries were reported but noted that similar rockfall incidents in the area have caused injuries in the past.
BLM geologists, in coordination with the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, are now conducting an assessment of the site to evaluate ongoing safety risks.
National Monument Manager Ade Nelson said: 'The safety of our visitors is our top priority. Outdoor recreation can be inherently unpredictable.
'This is not a backyard swimming pool, but rather a remote and natural place. Lower Calf Creek Falls is a world-famous destination, and we want to make sure everyone understands the risks when they visit.'
