GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A quick response from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office helped save a driver trapped in an overturned SUV following a crash Wednesday afternoon in the 7800 block of SW 24th Avenue.

Sgt. McClain arrived on scene shortly after the July 2 crash and found the driver visibly distressed and restrained by his seatbelt. Acting swiftly, McClain calmed the driver, released the seatbelt, and helped him out of the vehicle before medical personnel arrived.

Officials credited both Sgt. McClain’s actions and the support of nearby citizens who stayed with the driver for ensuring a safe outcome. The sheriff’s office praised the teamwork that underscores the strong relationship between law enforcement and the local community.
