China: China's cooling tech fans up global demand
Storyline: China's cooling tech fans up global demand [Voice_over] For companies in China that make cooling products, business has been red hot this summer. This textile company in east China's Zhejiang Province says sales are soaring for a silk fabric that keeps wearers 10 degrees cooler than conventional materials. The company has sold over 10 million meters of the fabric so far this year, and says demand is still rising. [Sound_bite] Zhu Yifan, general manager, Zhjiang Yoobee New Material Technology Company: "These two cabinets are sold to the United States. The main products are four-piece bedding sets made of cooling silk fabric. This cooling silk product has brought about a huge growth for our enterprise, with an annual growth rate of over 25 percent almost every year." [Voice_over] Another Chinese company that produces fourth-generation refrigerants also saw a surge in overseas orders this summer. Compared with traditional coolants, fourth-generation refrigerants are believed to be more environmentally friendly and are now widely used for residential air conditioning systems. [Sound_bite] Liu Ying, sales manager, foreign trade department, Lecron Group: "With the arrival of summer, the demand for our fourth-generation refrigerant products has increased, and they are exported to customers in Europe, the U.S., Japan, South Korea and other regions. Currently, the production is scheduled until the third quarter of this year." [Voice_over] Data from China's Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products shows that in the first five months of the year, the country exported almost nine and a half billion U.S. dollars worth of residential air conditioners, up by about 18 percent year on year.
