A Dutch female tourist was rescued after falling into the same volcano where a Brazilian tourist died in Indonesia.

Sarah Tamar van Hulten was hiking with her friends up the notorious Mount Rinjani volcano in Lombok on Thursday.

Like Juliana Marins, 26, from Rio de Janeiro, she was making the perilous journey to see the famous Segara Anak crater lake when she fell from the hiking trail at around 1 pm local time.

Sarah reportedly suffered a neck injury and had to be airlifted from the site.

Officials said rescue crews were dispatched to the scene at 2:20 pm, and a helicopter was deployed at 3:45 pm.

Footage shows the aircraft arriving amid foggy conditions to collect the wounded tourist at 4:41 pm. She was rushed to the BIMC Kuta Hospital for treatment.

Muhamad Hariyadi, head of the Mataram search and rescue (SAR) office, said in a statement: 'We received the report this afternoon from BTNGR regarding a foreign female climber who had fallen while descending toward Segara Anak Lake.

'We immediately initiated inter-regional coordination for helicopter support to ensure the fastest possible evacuation.

'This rescue mission reflects our readiness to respond to emergencies in extreme environments like Mount Rinjani.'

The incident occurred just a day after Swiss mountaineer Benedikt Emmenegger, 46, was rescued from the same volcano. Authorities said both falls happened at 'almost the same location'.

Yarman, head of the Mount Rinjani National Park Office, said mountain climbing ticket sales have been suspended amid the spate of hiking accidents.

He said on Thursday: 'We have seen many incidents occur on the Pelawangan route to the lake. Our team is assessing what needs to be fixed, whether it's installing ropes or clearing rocks, we will evaluate it.

'We are only suspending the new climbing quota and at the same time closing the trail from Pelawangan to the lake.'

Mount Rinjani is an active volcano located on the island of Lombok in Indonesia, standing at 3,700 metres (12,200 feet) and is the second highest volcano in the country.

Its stunning crater lake, Segara Anak, is a popular destination for hikers and adventure seekers, including Brazilian tourist Juliana who died after falling from a hiking trail on June 21.

The 26-year-old pole dancer and publicist was said to have plunged some 600 metres (around 2,000ft) into a ravine after asking to rest during a group hike. She was initially spotted alive via drone, but rescue teams were unable to immediately reach her due to dense fog, steep terrain, and poor weather.

Her body was on June 24. Her family has condemned the allegedly bungled rescue efforts as 'serious negligence' by Indonesian authorities.
