This is the dramatic moment a riverside restaurant was washed away by floods as Typhoon Wipha hit northern Thailand.

Footage shows the wooden raft with a metal roof collapsing into the Nan River as floodwaters eroded its foundation in Nan, on July 23.

The restaurant owner said: 'I felt helpless watching my shop break down in front of me. I couldn't do anything because it was too dangerous to go in and retrieve any of my belongings.'

Governor Chainarong Wongyai said between 200 and 500 millimetres (eight and 20 inches) of rainfall fell during Wipha's onslaught.

Typhoon Wipha lashed Thailand with heavy rains and fierce winds before being downgraded into a tropical depression.

However, the Thai Meteorological Department on Monday predicted more heavy rain and high seas until July 24. It added around half of Thailand will be battered with increased rainfall due to Wipha's remnants.
