A buffalo had to be rescued after getting her head stuck in a tractor wheel in Thailand.

The female bovine named Somwang wedged her head through the wheel while trying to eat hay at a farm in Buriram on July 20.

Animal rescuers were called to the scene after homeowner Som-ang Kangram, 54, found the buffalo lying on the ground with the metal rim around her head.

Footage shows volunteers removing a section of the tractor wheel with metal cutters. It took 20 minutes before they were able to make a large enough gap through which they gently nudged Somwang's head.

Som-ang said her husband had earlier removed the tractor wheels and propped them up against hay stacks in the shed.

She said: 'I heard a loud noise, so I went to check and found Somwang with her head stuck in the tractor wheel, struggling to free herself. I didn't know what to do, so I around five or six neighbours to help, but we couldn't get her out.

'After more than two hours, Somwang started to look tired, so I told my son to call the rescue team for help.'

She added that the farm animal is now safe and in good condition.
