This is the heartwarming moment a stray dog with its head stuck in a jar was rescued in Thailand.

The hungry female pooch had squeezed her head into the container while looking for food in Chonburi province on April 28.

However, she could not dislodge the jar and continued roaming the neighbourhood with the object covering its head.

Worried villagers called a rescue team after seeing the canine struggling to breathe.

Volunteers and locals surrounded the dog, but she was spooked and escaped into a nearby forest.

They later used food to coax her closer before catching her with a net.

Footage shows the rescue team cutting the jar open with a pair of scissors as the hapless dog breathed heavily.

After being freed, the dog staggered away into the woods.
