This is the dramatic moment rescue teams saved two children from floods caused by Typhoon Co-may in the Philippines.

Footage shows emergency crews pulling the children from the floodwaters using a life ring and rope in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, on July 24.

Coast Guard personnel, along with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) team, said they assisted two families from Tibag Village.

The families were taken to the Abra de Ilog Gymnasium evacuation centre for safety.

Typhoon Co-may, locally known as Emong, made landfall over Agno in Pangasinan at 10:40 pm on Thursday, bringing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 km/h and gusts reaching 165 km/h.

Co-may is forecast to make a second landfall over La Union or Ilocos Sur on Friday. It is the strongest storm to affect this region in 16 years.
