Two injured as driver forgets handbrake and frantically chases rolling car
This is the dramatic moment an elderly woman is run over by her car as she tries to jump back into the seat while it rolls away after she exited and forgot to pull the handbrake.
Footage shows the 73-year-old driver exiting her car intending to pay for parking in Jastrzebie-Zdroj, Poland, on July 12.
However, the unsecured vehicle started to move, first hitting a barrier, then continuing to roll forward.
The motorist ran after the car and tried to jump back inside, but lost her balance and was struck by the vehicle as one of the wheels ran over her leg.
Despite her injuries, she quickly stood up and limped while trying to catch up with the car.
An onlooker, who was also in the car park, rushed to help, but she too was hit by the rolling vehicle, which ran over her foot.
After several bystanders intervened, the car was finally brought to a stop, preventing further injuries.
Police and ambulance services were called to the scene.
Senior Sergeant Halina Semik of the Jastrzębie-Zdroj Municipal Police Headquarters said later in a statement: 'We urge all drivers, regardless of age, to always secure their vehicles before leaving them.
'Even briefly stopping without applying the handbrake can end very seriously.'
The driver was reportedly given a fine, though the exact amount was not disclosed.
