INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana National Guard soldiers with the 38th Infantry Division reunited with family and loved ones Wednesday at Indianapolis International Airport after nearly a year overseas.

The soldiers deployed in September 2024 to the Middle East in support of Operation Spartan Shield, a mission focused on maintaining defense partnerships and building partner capacity in the region. Their homecoming marked the end of months of separation and service abroad.

Operation Spartan Shield continues to play a key role in strengthening U.S. relationships with allied nations while supporting regional stability. Families and officials gathered at the airport to welcome home the soldiers and recognize their service.
