According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the first dog, on a leash, leaped and bit a deputy. The officer fired, wounding the animal. Moments later, a second dog ran from a structure and charged deputies, prompting another officer to fire, killing the dog. Body camera footage of the incident has been released to provide transparency to the community. Following a review, both deputies were cleared of misconduct and will return to their regular duties.
