New York, United States - September 14, 2025 Long Island, New York – Strong Island Animal Rescue League reported receiving an urgent call about a deer, specifically a buck, that had become entangled in a soccer net. Rescue workers rushed to the location and worked quickly to free the trapped animal. The group noted the incident took place in a high cull area, increasing the urgency of their response. Fortunately, the deer suffered no broken bones or serious injuries. After being released, it was later seen feeding on a hillside about an hour afterward and appeared to be doing well. The rescue team emphasized that in New York it is illegal to use tranquilizers or sedatives, adding that they have never done so. They included this clarification to address common public comments suggesting tranquilization. The family involved promptly removed the soccer net following the incident. Although the net was destroyed, they expressed relief and gratitude that the deer survived and took the lesson seriously to prevent similar accidents in the future. Strong Island Animal Rescue urged the public to always take down athletic nets when not in use, warning that such simple actions can save lives.
