Forest officials rescued a deer from drowning in a 50-foot deep well near Vaiyampatti village in southern India.

Villagers found the animal struggling to stay afloat in the well and alerted forest officials, who reached the spot.

Footage captured on March 10 shows the rescuers pulling the deer out of the well with the help of ropes.

The animal was examined by a veterinarian and later released in a forest nearby.

A 5-year-old chital or spotted deer, fell accidently into the agricultural irrigation well, belonging to Arulappan of about 50 feet long near china aanaikaraipatti in the manaparai town and was struggling to life in the water at the well. Once the news reached the forest guard officials, they arrived to the spot and with the help of the fire service rescue team they safely recovered the wounded deer. The wounded chital or spotted deer was then examined and treated by the veterinary physician.
