A military helicopter crashed during a typhoon aid mission in the Philippines, killing all six people on board.

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) aircraft reportedly went down in Agusan del Sur on Tuesday, November 4.

Officials said the chopper had been deployed to carry out Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations, supporting relief efforts for Typhoon Kalmaegi.

Authorities from the Eastern Mindanao Command AFP said in a statement: 'The search and rescue operations have led to the recovery of six bodies believed to be those of the pilot and crew members of the ill-fated Super Huey helicopter.

'The identities of the fatalities are being withheld pending notification of their respective families.'

The Bell UH-1H-II Super Huey, registration 122, crashed in the vicinity of Loreto, Agusan del Sur, while en route to Tactical Operations Group (TOG) 10 in Butuan City.

Authorities added that the aircraft had departed at 10:55 am local time but lost contact at 11:37 am.

Footage shows emergency responders aboard another helicopter on their way to the crash site.

An investigation team has been deployed to determine the cause of the incident.

Typhoon Kalmaegi, locally known as Tino, has killed 92 people, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
