This is the shocking moment a wall collapsed as a cafe visitor stepped out of a room.

CCTV footage shows the man collecting a bottle of water before closing the door behind him in Anhui, China, on November 5.

But the force of the door shutting caused the brick wall behind him to fall.

The loud crash startled the youngster, who looked back through the curtain, visibly confused by what had just happened.

He then called the shop owner for help and they rushed over upon hearing the commotion.

The guest said: 'The owner checked if I was okay. After that, he gave me betel nuts, cigarettes, and 500 yuan as compensation. I was shocked but grateful - I did not expect that from him.'

The visitor reportedly did not sustain any injuries. The owner explained that the incident had exposed a safety hazard.

He said: 'I'm thankful it happened now because if it hadn't, someone passing by could have been hurt. It could have caused huge losses, and the shop might even have had to close.'
