Phoenix, United States - November 13, 2025 11/12/2025 10:50 pm GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – According to Lieutenant Scanio, Mesa police officers responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance at the Acro gas station located at the corner of East McKellips Road and Lindsay Road around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday. Officers arrived and identified a suspect matching the description walking away from the gas station. Officers made contact with him just north of the gas station, but the suspect fled on foot into a nearby park. A scuffle ensued when officers caught up with the suspect. During the struggle, officers deployed pepper spray and a Taser before successfully taking him into custody. As the arrest was being made, the suspect's dog bit an officer on the leg. Mesa Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital for injuries sustained during his arrest. The injured officer was evaluated for the dog bite but declined further medical treatment from paramedics. Mesa police officers took custody of the dog while they determined which local facility would provide care following the owner's arrest.
