This is the dramatic moment a rescue boat was carried off by floodwater in Vietnam.

Footage shows the vessel, with emergency responders on board, being dragged by strong currents in Quang Tri.

Authorities said the rescuers managed to jump to safety before the rising water overpowered the boat. They were seen floating to safety further downstream.

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding across Hue and Quang Tri on Monday, submerging homes and vehicles and forcing thousands to evacuate.

The Provincial Civil Defence Office reported 53 areas in Quang Tri affected by inundation and isolation, including three along national highways, nine on provincial roads, and 41 in local communes.

The floods have affected 190 households, impacting 644 individuals, triggered five landslides, and led to the temporary closure of three schools.
