US, Phoenix: Phoenix Hit-And-Run Driver Causes Fiery Secondary Collision While Fleeing From Crash Scene

Phoenix, United States - November 17, 2025 11/17/2025 04:11 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper at the scene, a red Subaru reportedly fled the scene of a minor collision on Interstate 10. A short time later, the fleeing Subaru collided with two semi trucks at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Troopers and firefighters arrived to find the Subaru on fire with the driver trapped inside. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames while additional crews worked to extricate the driver. Once freed from the burning vehicle, the driver was transported to a local trauma center with serious injuries. A driver from one of the involved semi trucks was also transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The Department of Public Safety will handle the initial collision investigation on I-10, and the Phoenix Police Department will handle the secondary collision investigation on Van Buren Street. A hard closure was established for the intersection.
