Phoenix, United States - November 23, 2025 11/23/2025 03:11 am GMT-0700 MESA, Ariz. – According to information gathered at the scene, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received multiple 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 near Sossaman Road early Sunday morning. At approximately 3:10 a.m., troopers began responding to the area. Meanwhile, a Mesa police officer traveling on U.S. 60 spotted the vehicle just west of Higley Road and slowed down to perform a head-on maneuver to bring it to a stop. The vehicle made light contact with the officer’s push bumper and came to a stop, and officers subsequently took the female driver into custody. The woman was given a field sobriety test, the results of which are currently unknown. The driver was then handcuffed and placed in the back of a DPS patrol car. Traffic on eastbound U.S. 60 was temporarily closed as officers moved the vehicle onto the shoulder, but the road has since reopened.
